SIBIRICA HYBRIDS (DIPLOID) Hybrids with 2n =28 Chromosomes, which can be derived from the species Iris sibirica, Iris sanguinea and, more recently, Iris typhifolia. Small flowered varieties with well branched stems producing flowers with upright standards high above the leaves, are mainly influenced by Iris sibirica, whereas large flowered varieties with wide and flat flowers produced only slightly above the leave tips are mainly derived from Iris sanguinea.
